It was prepared by depositing several layers of green leaves as that of jackfruit, mango, etc. at the lowermost layer. Wastes such as rotting leaves, vegetable residues (peels of banana, carrot, etc.) were added over this layer. Care should be taken not to add food wastes, as turmeric added to the food is poisonous to the earthworms. Over this many layers of wet cow dung along with cut pieces of banana stems are added (to cool the mixture) along with earthworms. Everyday 1 - 2 cups of water are added and the drained contents are collected below via a tap. This is the vermicompost rich in mineral nutrients supplied to plants as manure | | Vermi Compost Project | | | | | | Resource Room (Primary) | | | | Teaching Aids, Compass, Metals, minerals, ores, rocks, inshowcase.
